Get the Most out of your Classes
RIGOR -- What is that, and why is it important?
Rigor is about showing your willingness to challenge yourself by taking progressively harder classes throughout your high school years.
Each year you should be adding one or two classes that are more advanced than ones you had the previous year. These can be Honors or AP courses.
Getting good grades in challenging courses is what college admission offices value most.
An article from the National Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC), revealed that a student’s high school record is the most important factor in college admission decisions. Students’ grades and the academic rigor of their course loads weigh more heavily in decisions to admit than standardized test scores or high school class rank.
Please set up a meeting with Mrs Gomer in 2nd quarter to talk about your potential senior year classes. Taking challenging classes throughout high school — including senior year — shows the people reading your application that you’re serious about your education and that you’re ready to thrive in college.
